We proudly present the Programme of Tanzfestival SoloDuo 2019!!!

Friday Program – 24.05.2019 (Änderungen vorbehalten)

1.Beatrice Panero / Solo / Trier

Title: stopNOstop

The piece „stopNOstop“ represents both human addiction to social networks and the need to escape from it. Chiada Rontini dances and expresses herself with great dynamic movements… she goes through a journey of meditation, temptation, dependence... in the end she finds herself back with the memory of that indelible feeling of having been “possessed”.

2. Elisabeth Kaul & Tess Lucassen / Duo / D/Heidelberg

Title: "Breaking the WOW'

"Breaking the WOW' looks at a society that lives in awealth of possibilities, blessings and superlatives. Taking the iconic image of a - beautiful and elegant - flamingo. These extravagant creatures seem to be the representation of what we strive for. What happens though if we scratch the surface? Soon the flamingo will show his flaws and fall into a cycle of insecurities and competition.

3. Mahalia Horvath / Solo / D/Essen

Title: Shoes to lose

The piece is about a woman who wears highheels the whole day. After a short break - taking off the shoes - one feet doesn't want to go back into the shoe. The feet is getting alive and a fight between the woman and her feet starts! Who is going to win?

4. Richard Oberscheven / Solo / Frankfurt

Title: As I Would Like...

How can I enter other spaces, situations and conflicts? All I have is empty space and by rotating around myself I have (new) directions and encounters. Each rotation affects my dancing and causes new events. A different feeling, a different colour, a different image and a different dynamic. A living architecture of the body.

5. Friederike Frost & Arian Sajina / Duo / Köln

Title: breathe (working title)

Time, breathing, battle - these three aspects rule the work and give the structure and timeline of the duo. The time of the duo is restricted by a clock- when it rings, the duo will end. Next to the time limit, the rhythm is dominated by the breathing of the dancers. Experimenting with the restriction of breathing, movements follow different patterns. Additionally, the dancers are with AND in competition to each other. These aspects that are rooted in urban dance battles create an intense and ongoing tension.

6. Rolf Dennemann / Solo / Dortmund

Title: Mondnacht

Although this choreography is inspired by German romanticism, Rolf Dennemanns presence reaches far beyond "just" emotional movements with arms and gestures. A radical, startling staging, a reduced choreography in which only the upper body is visibly moving.

7. Yunjung Kim / Solo / Italy

Title: Long Time No See 2015

Experience and existence are in a mutual relationship. From the audience's perspective and the performer's sense, we experience different formations in space. It starts from the essence of metaphysical movement as a dance performance and the relationship between looking and facing each other.

8. Lotta Sandburg / Solo / München

Title: Eve alone in the garden

This piece is about humane weakness for temptations and consumption of the planet. Taking it back from the start the dancer works with the image of Eve and Adam. What if Eve was alone in the garden? Would she have kept on eating the apple and become more and more addicted to it?

9. Maria Kobzeva / Duo / Offenbach

Title: correlate correspond coordinate (working title)

Two individuals meet. They approach one another by confronting, combating, clashing, conflicting, experiencing, facing and bearing each other. It is a constant shift between resistance and acceptance, to finally arrive at a place of balance, humbleness and mutual understanding.

10. Beomseok Yeong / Solo / Wuppertal

Title: H-I-P (Hustle it up)

What is "dance" for me? Is it hiphop? B-boying? Popping? Contemporary? Sometimes i seem to loose everything - everything I did before. But now I don't wanna loose my dance anymore. I will dance. However I want.

11. Daniel Rakovsky / Duo / Freiburg

Title: Amour muet (R&J)

Having no time is symptomatic of our contemporary daily life. For all these people this piece offers a danced version of Shakespeare’s famous tragedy Romeo and Juliet in only 6:30 min. What remains from the romanticism of the tragedy? And can hurry lead us to new aesthetics, maybe even revealing to us new dimensions of the tragedy?

Saturday Programm – 25.05.2019 (Änderungen vorbehalten)

1. Federica Esposito / Duo / Italy

Title: Iperuranio: The long and the short of it

Exploring the concepts of mimesis (imitation), metessi (the relationship between the world of ideas and sensible things), parousia (the presence of ideas in sensible reality) and aitia (ideas as the cause of things), two figures travel into an evolving space. Going through moments of connection, distance, observation and a gentle disrespect, the two performers will sometimes get confused about what is real and what is ideal.

2. Lin Verleger / Solo / Köln

Title: Ficken und Schläge

Our past has an huge impact on our identity, on the present and on the future. We show a small percentage of our personality to others - and how little do we know about ourselves: How much does the past weigh on the present and can we overcome it to arrive in the moment?

3. Or Marin / Duo / Israel

Title: Like a sex machine

Everyone is an enemy. Everyone is being loved. A loving enemy, enemies as lovers, shooting words, kissing bombs. Presenting their bodies as an exhibition of unique and elaborative weapons. Bodies that are working together and becoming an extraordinary machine gun. Body as an occupied territory, a fire zone, a tool of war, a tool of love. That's how sex should be. Like a sex machine. *Includes Partial Nudity*

4. Gonçalo Cruzinha / Solo / Stuttgart

Title: Um pouco mais de amor

"Ein bisschen mehr Liebe" is a dance theater solo piece that brings a story based on loneliness. It calls for the relation between time and behavior towards one another, the feeling that is hidden beyond the language and expression of our actions and movements. It gives a poetic position to the excessiveness of living inside of ourselves.

5. Stella Kolodzey & Magdalena Öttl / Duo / Greven

Title: Back in a second

We find ourselves being placed in situations, where we would like to escape from. Inflamed, volatilized and unexcused dissolved. Balk or follow. Endless excuses, begging for permissions, stucked in the timing of dependencies. What if we missed the moment where we could have left? The piece „back in a second“ is grabbing for an instant urge to escape society. An introverted fight concentrated in a restless and constantly weighing Duett.

6. Celeste Ayus Motta   / Solo / Spain

Title: Roots

Roots is an ode to nature, a reflection of who we are and where we are going to; and how to reconnect with our origins and life. PLASTIC is the biggest enemy of marine fauna and forests. Its sound, texture and movement generate artistic filters that the solo uses to remind us that we are part of nature.

7. Sarah Herr & Meret Rufener / Duo / Mannheim

Title: 2talk2

A dynamic and physical partnering piece with SwissGerman und Dutch speaking. Two persons, in a way depending on each other, still everyone in his own movie. Special is the encounter of language and movement, appearing next to each other, on top of each other and beside each other. There is the monotony of every day life encountering the growing relation of two people attempiting to share their big need to talk.

8. Karolin Stächele / Duo / Freiburg

Title: MYTH

This duet is an extract of a 90 minutes piece of 5 dancers: a duet of two human beings as animalistic creatures. Both of them are torn between instinct and logical mind, between fighting and playing, loving and hating.

9. Alexandra Kostopoulou / Solo / Greece

Title: Artemisia

This solo piece is inspired by Artemisia Gentileschi, an Italian Baroque painter in the generation following that of Caravaggio. The first work of the young Artemisia was "Susanna and the Elders". A coquetry dimension is attributed to the female figure, that faces psychological violence and overwhelms with horror and panic. This painting shows the sexual accosting by the two Elders as a traumatic event. Artemisia also painted many pictures of strong and suffering women that take action and female symbols of resistance against male potency.

10. Jun Chun Zhang / Duo / Essen

Title: Lumos

In the darkness, we try to struggle, just because we can't use our eyes. We hurt each other, try to catch and tear, hold and drop, just to shake our fear away. But at the end, we realise, when we close our eyes and give in to the endless flow of power in the darkness, we are safer like ever before. So let's just trust the little light in our heart, help each other, follow each other, and continue to go forward. The end of the tunnel is always bright.

11. Baidy Ba / Solo / Senegal

Title: The nights in Dakar

As a native of the Kaolack region, I fight to establish my popularity and to impose myself as an artist. However, I had to leave my poor region to go to Dakar - capital where most of the artists and choreographers recognized worldwide reside or come to participate in major festivals. But, that's where my nightmare started. In search of success, I had to go through colossal trials and painful moments that have more than once shaken my faith to the point of being inclined to abandon everything. But my ambition and my faith were the strongest and allowed me to surpass myself.
